cake-with-katrina The lovely blogger in this weeks blogger interview is the gorgeous Katrina from Carousel Diary, a fab lifestyle, beauty and fashion blog. I’ve love reading her blog since I found it recently and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented lady. Enjoy the tips and hints and let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Happy reading! 1. Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your blog Carousel Diary is a UK based lifestyle blog, although it touches on beauty and fashion occasionally. I cover a wide range of topics, mostly because a lot of things hold my interest, but also to ensure that I appeal to a variety of readers. I absolutely love writing and being able to do this in my spare time is a really enjoyable outlet for my thoughts and feelings. I am Katrina & I am 24 and from Leigh-on-Sea in Essex. I work in London for atechnology firm where I manage their digital and content marketing. A little something not many people know about me? I am a fully qualified scuba diver! 2. How long have you been blogging for and what inspired you to start it?  I have been blogging for just over 2 years now, having started my blog in September 2012. I have always loved reading blogs and writing too, so combing the two and immersing myself in to the blogging community seemed like a perfect idea! I am so pleased I did too because blogging has enabled me to engage in opportunities I never could have dreamt of otherwise! 3.What’s the best thing about having your blog channel? It gives me an outlet for my opinions and also allows me to create content around topics that interest me too. Also, it has enabled me to meet some amazing people that otherwise I wouldn’t have had the chance to! 4. What’s your top tips for budding bloggers?  Don’t give up! You won’t immediately gain huge amounts of traffic or followers on your social media platforms, but if you are actually dedicated to your blog – and not just doing it for the freebies – then stick with it and you will reap the rewards. 5. What does a normal day look like for you?  My week is mostly dominated by work; I work in digital marketing in London which I absolutely love. I will spend the day working on SEO, writing content for our blog or website, and lots more. After work I will often meet friends for drinks in the City or attend a blogging event. 6. Who’re your biggest style influences? I really love the vintage, glamorous style of Lydia Bright. This year I am massively in to midi skirts as I love the sophisticated length and how well they work with on-trend block heels. 7. Who are your favourite bloggers/vloggers?  I love lifestyle bloggers because – in all honesty- I am a little bit nosey and like knowing what people have been up to, but I also enjoy the inspiration that I garner from reading their post; whether that be a new travel destination, an unusual recipe or an alternative author. In all honesty though I couldn’t pick a favourite blogger as I follow many on Twitter and keep up to date with a variety of posts! 8.What are your three favourite beauty products right now? Yves Saint Laurent Touché Éclat – an absolutely essential that makes me look like I have had 8 hours sleep even when I haven’t! Body Shop Honey Bronzer – A new addition to my beauty regime, this bronzer has great wearability and is the perfect tone for paler skin. Victoria Secrets Body Mists – I have recently been converted away from perfumes to these little beauties. They smell absolutely amazing and last for ages too – particularly when misted in to your hair! 9.What lip product have you got in your hand bag right now? Benefit Lolli Balm – A new purchase and one that I am absolutely in love with. It smells lovely, glides on a dream and highly moisturises your lips too. 10.What are your three fashion essentials? A trench coat – an essential all year round, and simple to team with a variety of outfits too. Simple black pumps – a daily essential to get me to and from work, plus easy to throw on at the weekend too. A pashmina/scarf – Easy to throw on, whatever the weather – ensuring that if it gets alittle bit chilly you are covered! 11.What music are you listening to right now?  I still love a lot of the music that I did when I was a teenager, and am most certainly massively in to Indie/Rock. For the moment the albums I am listening to most are from The Kooks.
