This will be the first in a series of gift guides for Christmas and I’m kicking of with a fragrance gift guide for the men in your life. I’ve chosen 5 to show you. 1. The first fragrance I’ve chosen is a new one that came out in 2014. L’homme Ideal by Guerlain is definitely one for the Winter months due to the tones in in it. The top notes to this scent is a subtle blend of citruses, rosemary, orange blossom and bitter orange. When it settles for a while the middle notes that are detected are almond and tonic bean which make this smell smooth and manly. The almond smells prominent but not too strong and this gradually settles to bring out the base notes of leather, cedar and vetiver. It’s a yummy blend. 2. Spicebomb by Victor and Rolf is a beautiful scent which some think is a unisex one. Again it’s a definite Autumn/Winter fragrance as it smells sweet, dry, warm and spicy. It’s one that any man would love to wear on a night out and would spark some interest as to what it was. The packaging is very masculine as it’s in the shape of a grenade and goes with the name of the scent. The top notes are of bergamot, grapefruit and cinnamon leaf which makes this the epitome of Christmas and Winter. Surprisingly the middle tones are of lavender, pimento berries, saffron and elemi. The base notes are vetiver, fir balsam, tobacco accord which has that lovely vanilla tone that has everyone talking and white leather accord. It’s beautiful. You can also get this in a special set that includes an aftershave balm and shaving cream for Christmas too. 3. Jo Malone’s Incense and Cedrat is a special fragrance for me as my husband wears this daily. A few light sprays of this is all you need of this and it lasts such a long time but that doesn’t mean that this is overpowering. You can also blend this scent with any of the Jo Malone fragrances as they’re well known for having these qualities. The scent itself is really simple with just three ingredients top notes of Cedrat a citrus twist to the smell. The middle notes are of the hardy Incense resin which creates a warmth and smoothness that’s very distinct and the base notes are of the Vetiver, an earth like rich and woody intensity that make you want to snuggle your loved one all night. Jo Malone also has a perfect masquerade design this year that will make anyone love to see this set under the tree just for them. 4. The Aromatic L’Occitan collection is one of their best sellers and I can see why. Its an unexpected yet classic combination of distilled lavender blended with nutmeg, black pepper and the scent of smoked woods. It’s a subtle celebration of the French Province and is full of character. This will have you wanting to get closer to your loved one just to smell the fragrance. It also comes with a special Christmas collection of shower gel, soap and an after shave balm in a fab L’Occitan box. 5. Last but not least is this beautiful fragrance from Tom Ford. Tom Ford For Men is a classic and the scent itself is supposed to be a reflection of the man himself. The scents stays on all day and although some may find it a little dense it would be perfect for special occasions or a posh evening out. You man is always guaranteed to be showered with positive comments when wearing this fragrance. The top notes of this fragrance are of ginger, mandarin orange, lemon leaf oil, basil, bergamot and violet leaf; It settles to release middle notes of tunisian orange blossom, pepper, tobacco leaf and grapefruit blossom; and then later reveals base notes that are amber, virginian patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, cedar, leather and cypriol oil or nagarmotha. Perfect! Let me know which fragrance you’ll be buying for your man for Christmas in the comments below or on Twitter. Happy Shopping! A collaboration with L’occitane.
