If you’ve followed my blog for a while you’ll know that Clarins are one of my favourite brands. Their products are always so good and I’m always excited to try out their new release so when they sent me their new Skin Detox Fluid BB cream, dosage I knew I would be in for a treat.
I’m not normally one to wear a foundation. I usually go for a light concealer that covers my under eye area and any blemishes that need to be covered. I leave the rest of my skin to breath so I was interested and a little apprehensive to start using this product. It’s not strictly a foundation but it has great coverage and feel so light on the skin too. It doesn’t feel like I’m wearing any products on my face at all so I was pleasantly surprised by it and I’ve warn it every day since the company sent it to me.
The Clarins BB Skin Detox Fluid is a light to medium coverage and it’s really build-able and is very easy to use. It blends really well especially if you use a good brush or even just your fingers to work it into the skin and it really goes well with a concealer too. It leaves you looking like you have a healthy glow. It does have a slight scent to it but it’s not something that’s over powering and you can’t smell it once it’s settled into the skin.
I’m unsure as to why it’s called a detox fluid but it does have SPF 25 included which is great for protecting your skin especially if you’re spending a lot of time outside. Overall I love this product and it’ll be one that I will be repurchasing.
The BB Skin Detox Fluid is available at your nearest Clarins stand and is around £30. Do go and check this out as it really is a gem of a product.
Regular readers will know I’ve been a long time admirer of Chanel. They’re a really interesting company and I Iove their makeup and skincare products – they’re quite expensive but they’re worth it. I’m always on the lookout for new products, view so when I came across Blue Serum from their S/S17 skincare range, approved I just had to write a review.
Blue Serum is no ordinary product, approved it’s next generation skincare with a body of research behind it.
The product takes its name from the world’s blue zones – areas where researchers have found that people have measurably longer, healthier and happier lives due factors such as diet, level of exercise and social life. There are seven blue zones in the world in total, and Chanel have taken ingredients native to three of them to create Blue Serum.
The first blue zone ingredient is green coffee from Costa Rica, which is known for it’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The second is olive extract from Sardinia, which is renowned for polyphenols and fatty acids which are great for protecting and strengthening skin. The third blue zone ingredient is from the lentisk, an evergreen tree found in the Greek island Icaria, which is high in oleanolic acid and known for it’s regeneration abilities. Chanel claims that with these ingredients and their history of high quality products, Blue Serum is not only a different approach to anti-aging but ‘a new horizon for skincare’.
The product itself doesn’t have a heavy scent, it just smells light and natural. It’s made for every day use, and I’ve been putting it on in the morning and evening, and I found it to be quite long lasting. I’ve only been using it for a short time but I’ve already noticed a difference where my skin feels softer, and it’s particularly made a difference where I’d previously had some dry skin due to the cold weather.
That said, Blue Serum isn’t a magic product that’s going to make you live longer and become happier, but when used along side your current skin care regime with healthy does of good food and regular exercise that’s when it will really begin to shine!
Chanel’s blue serum is available at your nearest Chanel counter and it £81. I highly recommend testing out this beauty!
Winter is well and truly here, click and while that means warm comfy clothes, information pills hot drinks and long foamy baths, it also means cold weather and often dry skin, especially on your hands.
One of the most frequent items in my hand bag is a hand cream – I always carry one with me, and I’ve tried quite a few since the autumn. I recently came across these moisturisers from Crabtree and Evelyn so I thought I’d share them with you!
These products come in lots of flavours, these three being some of the most recent – Rosewater, Evelyn Rose and Pear and Pink Magnolia. The latter is my favourite of the bunch and I’ve used it every day over the last few weeks. As the name suggests, the product has a subtle scent of sweet flowers which smells amazing without being too overpowering. The product is creamy without being too heavy and leaves my hands feeling soft without being too oily, even after multiple applications throughout the day.
Each of these products contain natural ingredients such as shea butter and macadamia nut oil which sooth and soften the skin. They also contain myrrh which is a plant extract that will do wonders for your cuticles!

Regular readers will know that Urban Decay are one of my favourite brands. Their naked palettes have been featured here on many occasion, view so I was over the moon when my husband surprised me with the new Ultimate Basics Palette on Valentine’ Day! I’ve been keen to get hold of it ever since it was released, so now that I’ve got it I just had to write a review.
The palette is a square case containing 12 neutral colours with space for a handy little brush. It’s the kind of quality you’d expect from Urban Decay – raw, detailed, shiny, hard wearing, and fits perfectly in any handbag.
The shades in the Ultimate Basics are brand new, so if you’ve already got the Naked Basics or Naked2 Basics then you’ll want to add this one to your collection too. The palette itself contains a good mix of neutral matte colours with a few bolder tones if you feel like trying something a little different. I found myself using more of the lighter shades, but there’s something here for everyone no matter your skin tone or complexion. I also found it quite easy to apply evenly which is really important.
Urban Decay have done it again, the Naked Ultimate Basics is a must-have. You can get it from the Urban Decay website or in department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser.

I love Bare Minerals and their natural approach to beauty and so I got excited when I saw that they recently released three new lip products as part of their Gen Nude collection – the Matte Liquid Lipcolour, visit a Buttercream Lipgloss and last but not least their Radiant Lipstick, viagra 40mg which I picked up for a cheeky review.
The shade I chose was XOX which is a medium dusty rose colour with a demi-shine finish, sale which is slightly darker than my normal lip colour.
This lipstick feels amazing to put on – it’s an unusual shape and feels great on the lips during application, and it lasts really well. It gives me a balm-like shine, and it’s oh-so moisturising! That’s what stands out to me the most about this product. I tend to alternate between this lipstick and another, and so I really noticed that this one soothes my chapped winter lips, which is a huge plus. It means I don’t have to worry about applying a separate lip balm and it just feels great.
The packaging is gorgeous too, which is always a bonus and just adds to the excitement when you get it home. Speaking of which, the Gen Nude collection is available from the Bare Minerals website, and department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser.

Clarins are a brand who need little introduction, sale and regular readers will know that their products form a big part of my makeup collection. So when they got in touch and sent me their new Contour Palette I just had to share it with you.
The palette consists of three colours essential for contouring – a bronzer, order a blusher and a highlighter/illuminator. All of which are made using organic almond oil and contain Clarins anti-pollution complex, visit this which protects your face throughout the day.
What I love most about this palette are the bronzer and the blusher, they really are the bees knees. For a blusher to look its best on you it needs to be similar to the colour that you are when you flush naturally, and this palette does exactly that for me. On the other hand I found the illuminator to be quite powdery, and while it doesn’t really illuminate or highlight on my skin, it may work well for someone else with a different complexion.
The palette comes with a great little angled contouring brush, however it would be handy if there was a clip or compartment to keep them together as I often have to dig around in my makeup bag to find it.
In all though, I love this palette and it doesn’t take much time to get my face feeling brighter while enhancing my cheekbones and making me feel happy and radiant.
The Contour Visage palette is available from the Clarins website for £36 and from the usual suspects such as Debenhams, House of Fraser and Feel Unique.
Have you tried this palette out for size? Tweet me and let me know.

This recent release from Benefit is quite a unique idea for a lipstick. It gives a fuller and defined lip look with almost an ombre feel to it in one easy movement and it looks great too.
The tear drop stick has a dark liner at the smaller edge and a lighter main lip colour on the wider edge. The product itself it a semi-matte colour that can last up to eight hours on the lips.To get the look have the darker colour on the outside of the lip when applying and repeat this on both the upper and lower lip.
These Double the Lip lippies were originally brought out in a little four piece miniature set for Christmas but Benefit have now decided to sell them in a larger size individually. They’re available at your nearest Benefit stand for £16.50 each and they currently come in eight colours with fab names.
- Nude Scandal
- Juicy Berry
- Criminally Coral
- Pink Thrills
- Fascia Fever
- Lusty Rose
- Flame Game
- Revved-up Red
I really love the concept of these lippies and I like these colours. They look amazing on other people that I’ve seen wearing them but on me they all seemed a little drying. I’m also waiting to see if Benefit bring out any other colours in the future that might be a little more wearable.
Let me know your thoughts on these new lip products from Benefit in the comments below.
I love styling my hair. So when Cloud Nine got contacted me and asked me me to be part of their revolution by testing out The Touch hair straighteners, sales I jumped at the chance.
The Touch looks really professional. It comes with a cool black box to store the straighteners in, a little heat proof, zip-up blue and black carry pouch, and a really nifty blue heat guard that you pop on the straighteners when it’s cooling down.
These hair straighteners are pretty revolutionary and are made with touch technology, which means they switch on when you hold them and they’re hot from the first stroke of the hair straighteners on your hair. This means no more waiting for them to heat up. They heat up to 195 degrees (shows up as red) but if you want them a little cooler you just pop the plates together three times and it’ll switch to 165 degrees (blue). Perfect!
My hair felt really silky and soft when I’d used the Touch. They also didn’t drag when I was styling either. This is due to the mineral infused ceramic surfaces of the plates which means your hair won’t get damaged with extended use. Bonus!
I feel like they’ve really thought of everything when designing this hair styling tool. They have a hibernation mode after 30 seconds of inactivity and there’s even a European plug hidden inside the main one (accessed by a screwdriver).
Will you be trying out The Cloud Nine Touch styler or have you already got this? Let me know in the comments below.

It’s that time again so here’s my January favourites. There’s been some fabulous beauty and fashion items that I’ve been loving. Keep reading to find out!
At the beginning of the month I had an appointment at my local Aveda where they looked at my hair and scalp and gave me some advice on my hair. They suggested that I started using this balancing shampoo. I’ve been using it ever since and it’s really helped with my scalp, side effects the sensitivity of the skin and the look on my hair. It’s looking fab. I was suggested some other products too so I’m looking forward to going back and buying soon.
I’m not someone that usually wears a very heavy base/foundation so I like to stick to light coverage product. This BB Skin Detox Fluid from Clarins is one that I’ve been using for the full month. I only use a small amount, just two to three pumps, it lasts all day and looks amazing. It also as an SPF 25 in too. Mega bonus! I’ll be doing more of a review in the coming weeks so keep an eye out on the site.
I bought this lipstick/lipshine is from the Rosie for Autograph ( Marks and Spencers)line. I bought it just after Christmas and I fell in love with the name of it initially as it’s called Love of my life which very apt for the time of year. When I looked at the colour I fell for it even harder and realised that I just had to buy it and I’ve worn it every day since. It’s lovely layered over the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Amoureux and it really lasts. My most favourite thing about it is that the lipstick itself is so moisturising even when you have chapped lips which I have this week due to being ill, it helps lock in that moisture and soften them.
I was sent some beautiful hand creams from Crabtree and Evelyn. I love the hand creams as they’re thick and so moisturising. My favourite of the month is this Pear and Pink Magnolia ultra moisturising hand therapy as it has such a pretty yet subtle smell. It’s also been great for my hands and nails which have been in some need of a little TLC.
I bought this Armani scent Si in the January sales and I’m so glad that I did. It really is a beautiful fragrance and it’s one that I’ve been wearing a loth throughout the month too. It’s perfect for the time of year, subtle yet fruity and it has floral notes to it. It’s one that you have to smell if you see it for sure.
I seem to be allergic to every hand wash ever except this brand Bayliss and Harding. They recently brought out this limited edition fragrance in Pink Prosecco and Cassis to my local Sainsbury’s and I’ve loved using it the whole month. The bottle itself with the rose gold accents is beautiful too.
I’ve also loved the combination of the leopard print snood that I received for Christmas and this beautiful burgundy jumper from Miss Selfridge. It’s a warming combination thats also very soft and it’s made me feel extra snuggly when under the weather this month too.
What things have you been loving this month and will you be jumping to buy any of these items? Let me know in the comments below.
After a pretty eventful January, more about I thought that I would pop up another competition. This one includes a few fab items. The first is one of my favourite Barry M nail polishes Sugar Plum which is a gorgeous pink/purple which really reminds me of the ballet of Sleeping Beauty. It’s a colour that goes with every outfit. The second is a beautiful short gold flower Oasis necklace and finally the competition also includes a Mac lipstick of your choice.
To enter this UK only competition just add me on Twitter and tweet about the competition too. As an added extra you could also follow me on Facebook and Instagram and you can do this below. Competition ends on Sunday 19th February 2017.
