Emily Hearts My November Favourites

I love to do monthly favourites and this months are a pretty awesome collection of items that you’re going to love almost as much as me. Have a read and let me know what products you’ll be trying out from my collection.

First up are 9bar.  They’re gluten and wheat free and include poppy seeds, information pills pumkin seeds and some are coated with chocolate like layer which is actually dried dates. They’re so yummy and mega addictive. With five different flavours including Original, online Pumkin, online Flax, Fruit and Peanut there really is a flavour for everyone. They’re available from supermarkets and Holland and Barrett stores near you for just 70p.

This Sisley L’orchidee blush highlighter is so gorgeous. I was given it when I sampled some blushers for a review and article in Perfect Wedding magazine. It’s £64 so not your average blusher costing and I’m not sure if I would have bought it if I hadn’t had received it as a sample but it really is beautiful and it makes you feel a million dollars.

This month, I’ve played around with my make up a little bit. I’ve started wearing this Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eye Liner that I got with a magazine recently in a gorgeous cat like look, a bit of concealer to cover up those shadows that give away too much, a touch of the Sisley highlighter and a sweep of Dior wonderland on the lips. Perfect!

This Dior Addict lip balm in Wonderland was the lippie I wore for the evening reception at our wedding in September and I’ve been wearing this regularly ever since. It’s a really pretty pink almost red colour that gives you just enough colour without being over powering. At £24 it’s a little expensive but it’s possitively perfect for taking a day outfit to an evening one.

I’ve been wearing gels nail colour ever since I got back from holiday but when that came off, this amazing little bottle of nail polish was by my side again and nagging me to wear it. Ciate’s Mistress is a beautiful matt orange-red that suits everyone that wears it. At £5 what are you waiting for, go get it.

On our return from our honeymoon in Cuba I started to use this body butter in brazil nut from The Body Shop to help keep my tan a little longer. I pop it on straight after getting out of the shower and I just love it so much. It has a lovely consistency which glides on the skin in one fine sweep, it smells gorgeous and is a bargain at just £13. The Body shop have a whole load of other scents in this too so go and check them out.

The evening before my wedding, my mum gave me this awesome little bracelet. It’s a really pretty light pink daisy bracelet that really does go with everything. I’ve worn it most days since that beautiful time. I’m not sure where it’s from but I have seen something really similar in both Next in store and Oasis so go take a peek. This bracelet has also been a really gorgeous match for the everlasting knot bracelet that I picked up from Accessorize recently for just £5. So pretty!

Well I’ve talked about this yummy scent enough in the last few weeks but there’s no way I couldn’t involve this little gem in my November favourites. It smells divine and can whisk me back to our amazing holiday in Cuba in one squirt. Read my review of it here . My New York from DKNYin the sales at the moment at good department stores or perfume counters around the country so go have a little sniff.

What are your November favourites? Let me now in the comments below.

Emily Hearts Remembrance Day

Last sunday was Remembrance day and my husband and I went to check out the solemn happenings in London. It has been 100 years since the start of the first world war and the last year has been marked by several events and performances taking this into account.  The latest is an art installation by ceramic artist Paul Cummings. He was inspired by the will of  a serviceman that died in Flanders fields.  He described what he saw as  ” blood-swept lands and seas of red, pharm where angels fear to tread”.  888,246 poppies were made and put into the moat surrounding the Tower of London. To think that each one represents a person from Britain and Commonwealth that died  in the first world war is still beyond comprehension but it certainly puts it all in perspective, for me anyway.

We went by the Tower of London and joined the crowds to see the poppies before they were taken down. I have to say it’s probably one of the most emotional and beautiful art installations that I’ve ever been to. Even though there were hundreds of people around the area, it seemed like we were united,  there for the same reason and were respectful of that.

Did you go to see the poppies at the Tower of London? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below.

Emily Hearts Music Monday: Mr Big

Screen Shot 2014-08-04 at 23.36.57

It’s that time of the week again and we’re going old skool with this late 80’s hit To Be With You by Mr Big. Mr Big’s an American rock group that you’ll find hard not to love and they’re still going strong after almost 30 years. To Be With You is  beauty of a ditty and very apt for a wedding! I’m sure it’ll make an appearance on the wedding music short list.

Happy Monday!

Emily Hearts Music Monday: Ella Henderson

Screen Shot 2014-07-29 at 12.45.03

It’s the start of another week and on Saturday I went to Norfolk to spent the day doing wedding related tasks with one of my lovely bridesmaids. I had a great time and this song by X factor 2012 finalist Ella Henderson has been in my head since I heard it in the car on the way to one our many appointments. It’s also my bridesmaids favourite song at the moment, try so it’s a great pick for Music Monday or technically this week a Music Tuesday. Eeeeek!

I really love the chorus and the bridge of this song. Ella has such an interesting vocal and after going straight to number 1 for 6 consecutive weeks (only just gone to number 3 after Cheryl Cole stormed the charts with Crazy Stupid Love), it’s obvious I’m not the only one who thinks this. Her album is out on September 22nd this year and I think it’s going to be one to watch.

Let me know what music you’ve been loving this week in the comments below.

Happy Tuesday!

Emily Hearts Ben E.King

It’s  Monday again. It seems to come around faster and faster each week and for this reason I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic. I used to listen to this song Stand By Me by Ben E.King as a kid and I used to say to my mum ‘Mum, physician mum It’s Sin-ba-ny!’ Very cute and I’ve never lived it down.  I hope you enjoy this very old but lovely song. The old ones are always the best.

Let me know if you love this song too in the comments below. I’d love to hear your stories.

Happy Monday!

Emily Hearts Ipanema Event with Etailpr

Last week I was invited to Covent Garden in London along with 9 other lovely bloggers by Etailpr.  Ipanema, sildenafil who are a flip flop company brought the flavour of Brazil to London by setting up a trendy beach themed cocktail bar in the Piazza to coincide with the World Cup. It was mega cool and I couldn’t wait to meet up with the other bloggers that had been invited and chill out in the sun.

A few days before we were gifted a dress of our choice  to wear for the event from Quiz . I choose this pretty Aqua and Pink Floral Print Lace Dress and it was lovely to wear on a hot day.  There was a BarBQ with all different types of meat and you could watch the barmen making super yummy cocktails too.

Ipanema had also set up a small flip flip stall. I love these cute glittery ones with a lovely little bow. Ipanema gifted us a pair of our own with a floral pattern flip flops which are super comfy. I’m so looking forward to wearing them on our honeymoon and check out this cool beach bag that came with them.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Etailpr and Ipanema for inviting me to this fab event and to Quiz for providing the outfit. Check out Ipanema and get yourself some sweet flip flops for this amazing weather we’ve been having.

Did you check out this great event in Covent Garden? Let me know in the comments below.

Emily hearts What A Girl Wants Review

Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 21.25.25

Lindsey Kelk is a British author that now lives in New York. Previously a children’s book editor, help She is now known for the I Heart series, The single Girl’s To-Do List and About a Girl. She is attributed with the impressive fact of being one of the Sunday Times’ top ten authors with over a million copies of her books sold world wide.  Her books are about the trials and tribulations of life and love. As you can probably tell I am big fan of Lindsey Kelk. I have read most of her books so when I was offered the chance to review her new novel, the sequel to the book that maps the adventures of Tess Brookes in What a Girl Wants, I didn’t have to think of what to say. My answer was instantly yes.

What a Girl Wants picks up where About a Girl left off.  Tess is quickly left with a major dilemma. Does she stay on the path she had mapped out and open a new business with the life long crush that is Charlie in London or risk everything and chance it in Milan pursuing an awesome job and the majorly handsome yet infuriating man Nick? Only time will tell.

In short Lindsey describes About a Girl as being  ‘A story about a woman that had her life planned out then has it taken away from her.’ And ‘What a Girl Wants is about being dealt a difficult choice’. That’s certainly what it is but it’s a seriously lovely read.  I had a great time reading this book.  At times there are some genuine laugh out loud moments but it’s these are the things that keep me returning to Kelk’s books. The well written stories, the crazy funny characters and the wit that is Lindsey. What a Girl Wants is the perfect holiday or rainy day read!

It’s released on the 17th July and will be available from main books stores and supermarkets. It’s also available on Amazon. Go out and get one now. Don’t forget to let me know what you think of it in the comments below. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Emily Hearts Music Monday: Arcade Fire!

Screen Shot 2014-06-29 at 22.57.22

I know that I’ve showed you a few Arcade Fire songs before but as you might already know my fiancé and I saw these guys live at Earls Court a few weeks ago and they were awesome. They played for almost 2 hours, cheap they sounded great, their live performance was fun and they played a good mix of old and new songs. They also put £1 from every ticket bought towards the Haiti Foundation Partners in Health.  They’ve been doing this for the last 7 years and have raised over a £100,000 which is just amazing. They had a photo booth at the gig and here’s our photo. (I don’t really know what I was looking at though).

Screen Shot 2014-06-29 at 22.39.36

Arcade Fire played Glastonbury on Friday and so we celebrated a long (birthday) week by watching the live gig on TV sipping champagne. It took us back to the amazing event and it was a brilliant night. This song Rebellion (Lies) has been in our heads ever since and we just love it. Maybe one day we’ll get to see them live again.

Let me know if you have been loving Arcade Fire as much as us or if you went to see them too. I’d love to hear all about it.

Happy Monday!
