Birthday Wishlist!

Birthday Wishlist
My birthday is coming up really soon and there are so many things that I love at the moment. I thought I would pop together some items/ ideas that I would love to receive for my birthday.
1. First up is this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood necklace. I’ve had the orb earrings for a while and I constantly wear them so I’d love to have the necklace too. They just go with everything and really make an outfit look more stylish.
2. I’ve been travelling quite a bit recently, my little suitcase that I’ve had since university has seen better days. I love the Ted Baker suitcases, they’re always so pretty and this black one is super cute. I also love the some of the suitcases from River Island too.
3. I’m a huge fan of bees, I especially love Alex Monroe bee necklace my husband gave me for my 30th birthday so it’s super special to me. This Olivia Burton bee bracelet is a really great match for the necklace. Anything bee related is a winner for me.
4. I’m a big fan of Jo Malone fragrances and the perfume that I am loving at the moment is Nectarine Blossom and Honey. It’s such a summery fragrance and is supposed to remind you of Covent Garden early in the morning. Covent Garden is one of my favourite places to go in London so this is perfect.
5. One of my favourite shops at the moment is Joules as they have so many amazing designs and prints. It’s right up my street especially this gorgeous Julia Pleated Jersey dress. The fabric is super soft, and will definitely keep me cool in the warmer English weather.
6. As I’ve said before anything with a bee on is a winner in my book and I’ve loved these intricate Olivia Burton Bee watches since they originally came out. It would take pride of place on my wrist and would make every outfit look amazing.
7. My current computer is quite old and some of the buttons occasionally don’t work so I’m well in need of a new computer. My ideal would be an iPad/ iPad pro or a Mac Book Pro as they’re so easy to use.
Are you loving any of these pieces. Tweet me and let me know.
Happy shopping!

John Lewis Valentine's Wish List

John Lewis to put together a Valentine’s Day wishlist, which I thought would be a great way to pull together some of my favourite items from their range this year. I’ve picked out seven potential gifts, five for the girls and two for men. Let’s take a look… Valentines-Wishlist-2016

1. Olivia Burton

First up is a watch from one of my favourite brands, Olivia Burton, a relatively new company started by two London friends who met at university. Their frequent collections are classic and colourful and go well with every day outfits or for special occasions. I’ve picked out their Flower Show watch, a snowy pink piece featuring a gold case and beautiful blooms on the face. It’s an absolute steal at £70, so grab it with both hands!

2. Alex Monroe

Long time readers will know I’m a big fan of Alex Monroe. His hand crafted collections capture the delicate beauty of nature with unique detail. I’ve chosen his lovebirds necklace, a classic piece in gold which would make a fantastic gift for the lady in your life.

3. Neom

Neom is a brand of candle that promotes a message of healthy living and wellbeing through relaxation of the senses. Their organic candles smell incredible have been given the seal of approval by the Dutchess of Cambridge among others. I’ve selected the Neom Ylang Ylang, a decadent smelling candle that reminds me of turkish delight. A real treat!

4. Jo Malone

I just had to include a fragrance on this list, and one of my favourites is from Jo Malone. I’ve chosen their Mimosa and Cardamom cologne, a fresh and spicy scent with a base of sandalwood that is so addictive you’ll want to wear it all the time but never want the bottle to run out. This is actually unisex scent, so it’ll make a perfect Valentine’s gift for him or her!

5. Radley

Radley are a London brand who create fantastic handbags and purses for women with pretty pastel palettes and a cute dog mark. With humble beginnings in Camden market in the mid 80’s, today Radley is catching my eye rather often! I’ve picked out their heart purse, a wonderful little pastel pink number perfect for dinner out on Valentine’s day. So cute!

6. Tom Ford

New York native Tom Ford moved to Milan in the mid 90’s to work for Gucci and YSL before setting up on his own in 2005. Today he’s leading the way in fashion and beauty and his male fragrances are to die for! I’ve chosen his flagship Tom Ford Eau de Toilette which comes in a gold bottle that screams premium. With notes of lemon, mandarin and ginger, this is as fresh as it is exotic. Get this for the man in your life and he’ll be over the moon!

7. Happy Socks

Happy Socks are a Swedish brand with a mission to make socks exciting, and they’re certainly doing that through their colourful collections! My husband is a big fan of Happy Socks, and I love having an excuse to get him a pair. So if your fella thinks socks are a boring present, why not change his mind and add a bit of colour to his sock drawer! Let me know in the comments below which are your favourites on this list and what you’ll be wearing out this weekend. Happy shopping!

A morning with Alex Monroe at Snape Maltings

AMcollection You see Alex Monroe jewellery means quite a lot to me. I’ve been given two beautiful necklaces by my husband. One, the well known delicate gold medium bee for my 30th birthday given to me just a few short weeks before we got married. It was to represent the latvian name that I now have that translated means simply Bee Friend. The other necklace, a beautifully perfect gold Love necklace was given to me very recently in September on our first wedding anniversary. The excitement when I saw the packaging of the little green box and what was inside both times was really something. Very happy memories! photo 4-3 photo 5-2 There were around 20-30 people in the tiny gallery where they’d chosen to have the event and I’ve never seen so many Alex Monroe bee necklaces in one place. I was glad that I had gone against the gain and had chosen my new Love necklace to wear to the gathering. Alex-Monroe  I’ve wanted to read Alex’s book for quite sometime, really ever since I saw the blue and gold book in Liberty. I was struck by how beautiful the front cover was and how quite a few drawings of Alex’s jewellery had been included and so when he read a small passage it was quite a treat. Snape Maltings is a place that I’ve been to often and I came to find out that Alex Monroe knew it well too.  He read about how he had run around the area as a child with his friends before the current Maltings where built. I had to stifle a few laughs when he told us about his first tentative moments in the jewellery making business too. IMG_2976 IMG_2977 IMG_2981 IMG_2982 After this, Monroe then went on to demonstrate how he makes his jewellery with a small piece of silver and intricately cut out a daisy design. He then allowed one of the ladies that had made jewellery before to finish the outline. He used a blow torch and soldering iron to show how he would make the daisy centre. It would then be popped in some water to cool the metal down. The next stage in the process would be to polish off the blackness on the silver. It would then appear very like the necklace appearance that you would see in the shop. It was a joy to see an artist at work and was a true insight. photo 1-8 We came away with signed copies of Two Turtle Doves and I later found myself and my aunt exchanging jewellery tales with Alex’s wife who had come along with  his mother to support him at the event. She told us her own bee story, as it turns out that she has a rather special and exclusive Liberty limited edition with diamonds and a broken wing. I told the story of how my husband had gone to buy jewellery from Liberty, where they exclusively stock Alex Monroe items and couldn’t quite decide what to get. The story goes that he was told of a sale that was happening the very next day at the store and when enquiring as to whether Alex Monroe jewellery would be included, was told rather sternly ‘oh no darling, Alex Monroe is never in the sale.’ A true reflection on just how much his jewellery is loved in the capital. We were asked which pieces we had our eye on. My aunt loved the feather collection and I adored the hooray disc with the small diamond. So pretty! Hooray It’s not often that a well known person turns out to be quite so down to earth and humble but Alex Monroe certainly exceeded my expectations.  It’s made me love the jewellery all the more and I’ll certainly remember my fab day in Snape Maltings meeting Alex Monroe for a long time to come. Let me know if you have any Alex Monroe Jewellery and what pieces you love in the comments below. Enjoy!

September Favourites

September Favourites SeptemberFavourites Tanya Burr lipgloss This Tanya Burr lipgloss was an August re-release for the blogger/vlogger but it’s a lipgloss that I keep coming back to to. It’s a really pretty coral with gorgeous gold flecks included. It gives a small tint of colour but nothing like the bottle so it’s not as scary as you expect. It has a great texture when it’s on, it lasts quite a long time even when I’ve eaten or drink something. The new packaging is so pretty and it’s a bargain price too! Tanyaburrlipgloss Wetbrush I’m still really loving this wet brush. Does what it’s title says. You can brush your hair when wet because the in essence the brush teeth are further apart, made of a denser material which means it doesn’t pull so much. This also means that it will give little or no split ends. I love the blue ombre effect on my expert wet brush too. So pretty. Just wish I had a hair tie and curlers now. :-0 Wetbrush Origins A perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea Origins are a strange company for me, maybe I’ve just had quite bad experiences with my local stand but they do great products and I can’t knock them for that. I had a facial in September where they used this face wash and just loved it. It smells so good with the inclusion on white tea as the main ingredient, it makes you feel like you want to eat this stuff. It leaves your skin feeling really soft and fresh. If also been testing the moisturiser of the same collection and I’ve been quite impressed with this too. Again it makes my skin feel really soft, but it also leaves it feeling like it’s had a good drink and is deeply moisturised. I’m planning on buying the full version of this at the end of the month. Originsfacewash SuperCat eye liner from Soap and Glory I’ve recently written a post on this product. I find the SuperCat eye liner really easy to use and especially as the nib of the pen quite ridged. This means it’s quite a bit easier to use than any other eye liner product I’ve used so far in my quest for finding my perfect eye liner. A great product to start with for beginners in make up and one to try out if you are looking for something from the high street seeing as it’s just the bargain price of £6. I do find that the product does often move and smudge if it’s put on without any base or primer so you do have to prep the area before applying quite vigilantly. Supercat Jo Malone perfume I was bought this beautiful Jo Malone perfume in Wood Sage and Sea Salt for my birthday in June. It’s my first Jo Malone scent and boy what a great one to start with. I just can’t get enough, think it’s becoming my all time favourite summer/autumn fragrance. It’s subtle, but really feminine and it looks amazing in photos. Bonus! JoeMalone Love Necklace – Alex Monroe The end of September saw my husband and I celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We had a lovely day at London Zoo with a meal at my favourite restaurant Rossopomadoro (Little Tomato) in Covent Garden where I was given this gorgeous gold plated Alex Monroe Love necklace. What a treat especially as it’s my favourite jewellery designer. We saw the night out in the top bar at the Gerkin tower with spectacular views of London chatting about the past year, and our future hopes and dreams. Perfect! AlexMonroeLove Michael Kors bag It’s bag love of the month with this little beauty. I have a few designer bags now but I keep coming back to this one, the Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Tote. It’s big, fits everything in including my laptop which handy when I want to take it into work which I often have to do. I can’t imagine I will ever fall out of love with this. MichaelKors TV programs Gossip-Girl-S2-shoot Gossip Girl In September I was really addicted to this program. I’d sit down after dinner and watch it, so much so that I watched all of the series in just 6 weeks with little to no break in the middle. Eek! Addicted much! The ending just made so much sense too, really very clever.  There was some great writers on this show. I hope they do a come back at some point. It would be great to see how they are getting on 10 years down the line. reign-1
Reign This is a new show for me but I started to watch this right at the end of the month and have continued on to watch it throughout October. It’s all about the reign of Mary, Queen of Scots, the life and loves. It’s really done well and the costumes are spectacular. It’s a must watch for everyone! Ed-Sheeran-James-Bay-Let-Go-Video
Music – Ed Sheeran/James Bay As you can probably tell I have been loving both Ed Sheeran and James Bay this month a lot. I tend to listen to their albums a lot when I’m at work. They’re really easy listening and both artists music seem to make me really productive which is alway a plus. I’d love to go and see both in concert at some point, tickets are like gold dust though. You can just never get hold of any. Both would be amazing though! What have your favourites been throughout September? Let me know in the comments below. Happy Reading!
