Blogger Interview: Capturing Sunshine

Capturing-Sunshine This weeks blogger interview is with Sakshi Raina from the wonderful blog ImCapturingSunshine.com It’s a really fun blog filled with beauty, days out, heart to hearts and more. Thank you so much Sakshi for taking the time to do this fab interview and I hope you all like it. Happy reading! 1. Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your blog. I’m a perfectly imperfect person who is comfortable under her own skin. I’m currently a student of computer science engineering. You would either find me reading a book with a cup of coffee or spending time in the nature while I’m awed by the beauty. I’m a stargazer, a dog lover, an amateur photographer and an aspiring traveler. I love meeting new people across the globe and strongly believe that each person hides a different world in itself which I want to explore. I hope to change the world one person at a time with my writing. My blog is a blend of poetry, fiction, romance, photography with self-help in the lead. I mostly write about everyday life which anybody can relate to. I try to write in a way which could inspire people and motivate them to achieve and live the life that they always have imagined. 2. How long have you been blogging for and what inspired you to start it? I have been blogging for a little more than a year now. I needed a platform to share my voice and opinion on various issues. This was when I was going through my teenage confused phase and I wanted to share my experience and wanted to motivate people because I have been there in the hard times and I know how it feels. I just want people to be inspired and leave with a fresh new positive perspective after they read my blog 🙂 3. What’s the best thing about having your blog channel? The best thing about having my blog is that I can connect with so many new people across the globe and I love meeting and conversing with people across the narrow sea and learn more about them and their culture. I feel that I have met some amazing people and I would like to create a strong network with all of them in the future 🙂 4. What’s you’re top tips for budding bloggers? When you’re a new blogger, sometimes it could be overwhelming to see that the progress bar (statistics) doesn’t really get that high and it is easy to get demotivated. I would just say that: – Believe in yourself: If you like blogging, if you like reading/writing, don’t let that numbers affect you. Keep going! The beginning is tough but once you gain a momentum, it just gets easier later on. – Be YOUrself: don’t try to be someone you’re not. It will reflect in your blog posts someday in the future. Your audience would connect with you more if they start knowing your personality and could relate to the same. Also, don’t copy someone else work. Copying and being inspired are two different things. 5.What does a normal day look like for you? I have two kind of normal days. One when I’m living in my university dorm. I wake up at 7am, give myself some “me” time, get dressed and go to college from 9am-5pm. I then hang out with my friends, attend my club meetings and reach back to my dorm around 6:30 pm. I check my emails and notifications, mostly do my blogging work if I’m not in the midst of exams and have my dinner at 8pm. I go for a night walk later and once I’m back, I do my assignments and study till I fall asleep. Second is when I’m at home during my vacations. Now my schedule is not fixed during this time. I’m mostly on my laptop connected to the internet doing either my blog work or learning new things online. The rest of the time I’m either stargazing or playing with my dog. On weekends, I like to explore the city or travel to nearby places and understand their culture a bit more. This is all just an outline. I’m more of a spontaneous person and I like to do random things which are not expected. 6.Who’re your biggest style influences? I like to think that everyone has a personal style that changes with the person and the lifestyle they live in. I don’t have a style influence as such. I like to experiment with my clothes and looks and see what best suits me. 7.Who are your favourite bloggers/vloggers?  My favorite blogs have to be tinybuddha.com and zenhabits.net .They both offer tiny wisdom that could really pack a punch if you read it at the right time. My favorite vlogger is Lilly Singh (iisuperwomanii). I have been following her since she had less than 1m followers and it’s inspiring to see how much hard work she puts into everything that she does. 8.What are your three favourite beauty products right now? My favorite three beauty products that I cannot spend a day without are: – Maybelline Colossal Kajal: It’s smooth and gives a dramatic effect on the eyes. -Estee Lauder pure color blush (peach) – Maybelline Glitter mania Nailpaint series 9.What lip product have you got in your hand bag right now? Loreal Causse 401 Rebel Red lipcolor 10.What are your three fashion essentials? -Well tailored blazer: To wear over jeans or any party dress. – Little black dress: It’s flirty and sexy – Bright colored scarfs: They can bring life to any t-shirts 11.What music are you listening to right now? I’m currently listening to songs by Inna at the moment. Crazy Sexy Wild is my favorite of them all.

Blogger Interview Series: Little Miss Katy

Little-Miss-Katy 1. Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your blog. Hi! I’m Katy, I’m 23 and I live in London. Little Miss Katy is Life, Style & Food blog, where I mainly write about fun life experiences, things to do in London, restaurant reviews, personal style posts and a few other bits and pieces mixed in! 2. How long have you been blogging for and what inspired you to start it?  I launched LMK in April last year. I actually had my one year anniversary a few days ago! I was working really long hours as a corporate receptionist, where I basically spend most of my time sat behind a computer with not much to do. I started reading blogs to keep myself entertained and it was a short jump from there to starting my own. 3. What’s the best thing about having your blog channel? The community! I’ve made some brilliant friends, both on and off-line. I think what I love most is the support you get from everyone. There’s always someone around to have a chat with, and everyone is SO friendly and ready to help if I’m stuck with anything! 4. What’s you’re top tips for budding bloggers? Just jump in! There’s no point tip-toeing around, talking about how one day you’d like to start a blog. Just start one! You’ll learn as you go along, and don’t forget, everyone started in the exact same place as you. Also get involved with the community! Tweet, comment, read and don’t be afraid to ask for help. 5. What does a normal day look like for you? I start work at 8am so I usually spend the first hour sorting post and doing my morning receptionist duties. At about 9am I sit down with a coffee to read my emails and check in on social media. I’ll usually read and comment on several blogs at that time as well. Then I edit my photos for that day’s post before going off on my lunch break at midday where I disconnect completely and read my book for an hour. Afternoon time is my writing time. I write, edit and then usually publish the post at around 4pm, depending how focused I am! I spend the rest of my shift promoting the post on social media, having a chat with people on Twitter and commenting on more blogs, before finishing work at 6pm. Then it’s home to eat dinner, chill out with my boyfriend and maybe join in a Twitter chat! Other nights I might be at a blog event too, which are always fun. 6. Who’re your biggest style influences? I heart Emma Watson’s style. It’s classic and simple, but she can totally ramp up the glam factor with the best of them! She always looks classy as well, which I love. Blog-wise I’m also a massive fan of Josie from Josie’s Journal and Helen  from The Lovecats Inc‘s monochromatic styles! 7. Who are your favourite bloggers/vloggers? Oh God. SO MANY. Ones I read every day are Hannah Gale, Being Erica, The Londoner, Forever Amber and Life Outside London. 8. What are your three favourite beauty products right now? I’m obsessed with my MeMeMe liquid highlighter at the moment. I mix a big dab of it into my foundation and honestly, I’ve had so many people people commenting on how glowy my skin looks lately! I’m also a massive fan of the No.7 Exceptional Definition mascara (I’m on my 4th tube!) and Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser, which I’ve re-bought about 6 times since I got sent a PR sample of it last year. It’s the only product I’ve found that removes eye makeup without stinging! 9. What lip product have you got in your hand bag right now? HA. This is a bit of a running joke, cos I have about 8 in there! My faves at the moment are the Revlon lip butter in Sweet Tart, Maybelline’s Colour Sensation in Pink Punch and a Dr Organic lip balm in Cherry. 10.What are your three fashion essentials? Skinny jeans, ballet flats and swing dresses. They’re my wardrobe staples at the moment! 11.What music are you listening to right now? At work I tend to listen to either classical piano or laid-back jazz, but for myself, I tend to go for Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran or the soundtrack from the movie Begin Again. I adore Adam Levine’s voice! Thank you Katy for your wonderful answers and for taking the time out to take part in the Blogger Interview Series. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Happy Thursday!

Blogger Interview Series: Studs and Dreams

lorna Studs and Dreams small I’m so happy to introduce this weeks Blogger/Vlogger interview is with the lovely Lorna from Studs and Dreams. Lorna was one of the first bloggers I ever met at PR events in London . I love reading her blog and watching her Youtube channel so go have a gander, but not before you’ve read this interview. Enjoy! 1. Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your blog. I’m Lorna, I’m currently studying Photographic Arts at Westminster Uni, though I’m very nearly finished – only a few weeks, woo! And I’m also the Digital Brand Manager for the amazing app. BeautySpotter. which is just the best thing ever for beauty obsessives like me! I write my blog Studs and Dreams and make videos on my channel and basically just create content I’d love to watch and read myself. So it’s a lot of beauty and a little fashion and lifestyle. 2. How long have you been blogging for and what inspired you to start it? I will have been blogging for 3 years in July, crazy! I used to read blogs all of the time and was always left thinking I could do that and I really want to do it! I put it off for a long while wanting to make sure of the design and name and the kinds of things I wanted to write about but then just bit the bullet eventually and did it. 3. What’s the best thing about having your blog channel? Oooh, the best thing. There are so many! Probably the best thing is getting to meet so many lovely fellow bloggers. It’s such a lovely community to be a part of and I will always appreciate that and of course, the events etc. are just a bonus! 4. What’s you’re top tips for budding bloggers?  My top tip would have to be just write what you would want to read. I know everyone says it but it’s really true. If you don’t think you’d read that post you just drafted up, then don’t hit the post button as it’s likely not that many people would either. Keep at it and don’t just get into it for the free things, it’s so much harder and time consuming than you can imagine. 5. What does a normal day look like for you? At the minute a normal day is very varied. With me coming to the end of uni it’s all a bit up in the air and I could be working on a project or I could be working with BeautySpotter. Perhaps I’d be doing a bit of blogging or filming at home, heading into central London for a meeting or an event in the evening and dinner afterwards. It really depends, but I’m not going to lie, I’m making use of getting to choose when I start working. Hello lie ins! 6. Who’re your biggest style influences? My biggest style influence is of course the beautiful Alexa Chung. I feel like she’s everyones, but that’s because she’s so god damn gorgeous and I definitely don’t disagree. She’s gorgeous and I’d like her entire wardrobe please. 7. Who are your favourite bloggers/vloggers? Favourite bloggers and vloggers! Crikey it’s so hard. I of course love some of the bigger ones like Essie Button, Amelia Liana and Sun Beams Jess (the list really would be endless if I listed them all) but some smaller lovelies worth the mention would definitely be Kassia Poh and Shu at shulikesclothes! 8. What are your three favourite beauty products right now? Ooooh, only three? Can I pick more? I’d probably have to say the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Inika Mineral Blush in Blooming Nude and the Rodial Contour Powder. So tough but I’m in love with all three! Total game changers. 9. What lip product have you got in your hand bag right now? More like lip products… I’ve just had a peek and I had the Nuxe Rev De Miel Lip Balm, an EOS lip balm, a Carmex Lip Balm, one of the new Bourjois Aqua Laque Liquid Lipsticks, the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte and the Sephora Lip Cream Stain in 01. I know that’s too many, but I’m the kinda gal that throws a lippie into the bag and never takes it out again, oops! 10.What are your three fashion essentials? Three fashion essentials would have to be a pair of black high waisted jeans, a denim jacket (I’m obsessed with a tie dye one I found in a vintage shop) and a leather jacket. I couldn’t be without all three! 11.What music are you listening to right now? Ooh, music! Great question. I’m obsessed with Aquilo, Honne, Mumford and Sons, Death Cab for Cutie, Florence and the Machine and Arcade Fire at the minute! Again I could probably keep going but you’d be here reading for days and we don’t want that.
