My Winter go-to make up!

The colder weather calls for moisturising products to help keep your skin feeling fresh. Along with a more winter friendly skin care regime, I’ve also changed up my make up slightly. There are a few trusty products that I keep going back to so I’ve gathered them together and popped them in a post to share with you.
First up is a light weight brightening cream from Rosie by Autograph at Marks & Spencers, one of the main products from the collaboration with model Rosie Huntington Whitely. This product gives a beautiful radiant glow when layered lightly over the skin and it’s also a great base to work with too. It’s moisturising and can be worn on it’s own for those lazy days or under foundation for a more dressed up look. It also has a low level SPF in which is great on those days when you’re out in the sun a little. Best of all, it leaves my skin looking more healthy even when I’m not feeling it and it’s good for both vegetarians and vegans to use which is an added bonus.
Next up is Bye Bye Under Eye from It Cosmetics. As I’ve said before, I’ve heard a lot of bloggers and Youtubers rave about this concealer so when I recently saw it in Selfridges, I nabbed a few testers to see what the fuss was about. When applied, it feels like a wonder product as when warmed up and applied in the under eye area, it really does conceal. It is heavy though so the one thing that I’ve noticed is that with great application comes a great setting powder and a fab make up remover/ cleansing routine in the evening. Trust me your skin will thank me and needless to say I went back to get the full size too.
Next up is the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Glow palette. It has three gorgeous eye shadows in that help you gain a great day time look. Start with the lightest first all over the lid, pop the middle colour over the middle and outer edge of the eye with a little to be pulled underneath. Leaving the darkest colour to be fluffed into the crease. Darken this up a little more for an evening look too.
Next up is the contour, now I don’t use this much as it’s a tad dark for my colouring but pop a hint just under the cheek bones in a line towards your ear and blend in till theres just a hint of colour. You could also go around the hair line lightly, down each side of your nose lightly and under the edge of your jaws. Looks great! Next up is the blush, theres two in this palette, the top one is a little dark for me so I just use the lighter one as a pop of colour. It looks so pretty.
Lastly the highlight is for the tops of your cheek bones, the outer half of the brow bone, also maybe a little down the nose and on the cupids bow on the top lip. It’s a beautiful subtle golden colour that’s loved by everyone that uses it.
I apply a little mascara on my eye lashes next, I’ve been testing so many out recently that I couldn’t decide on one to show. I like length, colour and definition with something like the IT Cosmetics Superhero or Armani Eccentrico both give.
Next up is eye brows. I’ve long been a long time fan of Fleur De Force eyebrow products so this double ended brow define pencil is perfect for filling in those pesky sparse areas. With both a darker and a light shade, it covers all bases.
If the eye shadow isn’t dark enough for an evening look, freshen it up a little with a subtle shimmer of the Havana Mac eye shadow. A little in the crease is all it needs to make the look pop!
Last up is this gorgeous Collection eye liner – it’s a hard nibbed pen is great for creating a perfect cat eye flick or a subtle line to make your lashes look a little thinker. The long handle allows for precise movement and application and the formula is long lasting.
Finish the look with a killer lipstick. My favourite is the Charlotte Tilbury in Pillow Talk, a beauty of a colour that looks like your lips but better. Perfect for everyday. The second is this pretty  Tom Ford creation in Indian Rose. It’s a perfect nude pink to pull any look together and a perfect way to make your make up look and feel a so special. Perfect for a birthday meal or a wedding!
Let me what do you think of the products used and if you’ve been liking any  message me over on Twitter to let me know.

Fleur De Force Make Up Collection

vlogger and blogger Fleur De Force, this year has both released a book she wrote herself and an eye lash collection with Eylure. This September she added a very beautiful make up capsule collection to this too. It’s decorated with the same gorgeous water colour effect with pink, purple, blue.  Rose gold stars and typography also adorn each product. the collection includes a make up bag of a great size, a dainty mirror, two eye palettes lunar rose of which has several rose gold colours and Cosmic Bronze, Fleur’s own neutral edit featuring bronzes and browns that will suit everyone. She has then also created 6 amazing lip-glosses, each one a favourite colour of the lady herself.  Every single one wearable and appealing and all named after her most loved shape, the star. First we have Little Star a light nude pink , Written in the Stars in a really light brown nude, Starlight is very similar to Little Star but slightly darker coral like colour, Lucky Star is a bright orange red , Starry Starry Night is a bright pink red and Seeing Stars is a more orangey nude. They go on like a dream, smell yummy and there’s a colour for every event. I have the beautiful make up bag, mirror, the Lunar Rose palette and Starlight, the coral nude as you can see below. They’re really amazing quality, so luxurious. They last really well and have since become a make up bag staple, they’re also a great price.  I carry the lipgloss every where and it never fails to bring together a look. You can get all of these new products including Fleur’s book The Glam Guide exclusively from Feelunique. Let me know if you have any of Fleur’s collection and what you think of it in the comments below. Happy shopping! Fleur-de-force FDF2

Archive: Blogger Interview – Country Girl Em!

Emma 1. Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your blog. I’m Emma, the Em behind Country Girl Em. I work full time as a social worker and blog in my spare time. My blog shares my interests and passions (outside of work) which is mainly beauty based, but I also blog about baking, food and my life. 2. How long have you been blogging for and what inspired you to start it? I’ve only been blogging just over 3 months now, so I am still a relative newbie to the wonderful world of blogging! I have been an avid reader of other blogs and watcher of YouTubers for a while and they inspired me to start my blog alongside my love of writing and wanting to have another interest outside of work. 3. What’s the best thing about having your blog channel? Connecting with other people who have similar interests and being part of an incredibly community of bloggers who are so supportive and welcoming, alongside finding out new ideas and new products to try! 4. What’s you’re top tips for budding bloggers? Go for it! 5. What does a normal day look like for you? I work long hours Monday-Friday and have a stressful and demanding job. When I get home I check my blog and catch up on other blogs. Weekends tend to be more relaxed and that’s when I plan, prepare and write my blog posts. 6. Who’re your biggest style influences? This is a difficult question as I am definitely not a fashionista. I am vertically challenged and on the curvy side of curvy so I do struggle to find fashionable flattering clothes. However I would say my biggest style influence is Kate Moss because I have followed her career since I was very young – I was fascinated by her and absolutely love her relaxed style. 7. Who are your favourite bloggers/vloggers? Well of course Emily Hearts! I also love Really Ree (especially her periscope and new in beauty YouTube videos), Fleur De Force, I Covet Thee, Essie Button, and of course Norfolk’s own Pixiwoo and Tanya Burr! 8. What are your three favourite beauty products right now? Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate, The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil. 9.What lip product have you got in your hand bag right now? Several… L’Oréal Infallible Gloss in ‘I Got The Power’, Bourjois Aqua Lacque in a peachy coral colour, Revlon Balm Stain in ‘Honey’ and an EOS lip balm in ‘blueberry’. 10.What are your three fashion essentials? I absolutely love handbags so a good bag is a definite essential. I also love nail polish and have quite an extensive collection and I do feel that a pop of colour on your nails can really sharpen a look! 11.What music are you listening to right now? At the moment I have been loving the new Kelly Clarkson album, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

February Favourites

Febfavourites Beauty and Skin Care Favourites I was given the My Burberry by Burberry fragrance for christmas. It’s been firmly in my bag and has been my go-to scent ever since. It’s utterly gorgeous. It was inspired by the iconic Burberry mac which is shown in the packaging as the lid represents the buttons on the mac. It has warm floral tones which are supposed to have captured the essence of a London garden after the rain has fallen. It’s been amazing to wear for these cooler months. It makes me happy when I smell it. MyBurberry I had my hair dyed darker for the winter months as you all have noticed on my instagram. To keep the colour going a little longer than expected I was given this little beauty of a conditioner from Milkshake. It contains a cocktail of natural products such as Milk, Casein and is rich in wheat proteins. This conditioner repairs and strengthens colour-treated hair which is just what I need. I  have really noticed a difference in my hair colour as well as the condition so if you see this in a shop, buy it and try it out quickly. Milkshake I was in London the other day and I had really sore hands, they were split because they were so dry and really hurt as a result. I popped into Cowshed on Carnaby Street to buy one of their hand creams that I’ve heard a lot about. I went away with this,  Cow Slip Soothing hand cream with essential oils of sweet orange and peppermint. It smelt the nicest out of all the ones I tried. This stuff is a miracle worker, the cuts in my hand healed almost straight away after using it and my hands were left feeling soft, moisturised and I was very happy. I’ve been using it ever since and I love it. cowshed I bought Rimmels Salon Pro in the Kate Moss collection 227 New Romantic. This picture probably doesn’t do it justice because it has an ever so slight hint of a sparkle and when it’s on the nails it looks beautiful. It lasts really well and even longer with a good base and top coat. I’ve worn it for most of the month and I’ll be wearing it long into the Spring/Summer season too. Rimmelpolish The weather has been quite cold over the last few months and something I’ve suffered with quite a lot as you can tell from the above . My legs were getting quite bad and I decided to dip into my Honeymania scrub and I found a new found love for it this month. It’s rather nifty  because it is super moisturising so not only does it moisturise your skin but it removes the dead skin. Gross but brilliant!  If you need something that will do the job quickly then this is just the ticket. Thebodyshop Non Beauty favourites This month was Valentines and my husband gave me two books that I’ve wanted for ages. Fleur De Force’s new book The Glam Guide and Tanya Burr’s book Love Tanya. I’ve watched these ladies on youtube for a long time, I think three or four years now and it’s lovely to see how far they have both come. They’re both on different paths within the same sort of career and yet so different. First up is The Glam Guide, the book itself is gorgeous. Covered in her favourite things girlie colours, rose gold and stars. There are even a few of her favourite items too including bags, designer shoes and home wear. Fleur’s book is penned by her and you can really tell as it’s like reading a book version of her Youtube videos. It’s aimed at quite a good age too 20-30s which is perfect for me. There’s lots of tips which are really handy such as how to do your make up, travel, relationships and so much more. It’s a lovely keep sake and one that I’ll keep going back to again and again. I’ll be doing more of a review of this in the next few days so look out for it if this interests you. TheGlamGuide Love Tanya is part autobiography and part tips and hints on cookery, relationship, make up and fashion. It’s aimed at a younger audience than Fleur’s. I lived in the same area as Tanya so I enjoy watching her videos as I know the area and the shops she talks about. The tips are quite handy and it really is again like she’s talking to a friend and having a catch up which is lovely. It’s written by a ghost writer but you can tell that she has put her stamp on it. Again this will be a book that I keep coming back to for years to come. LoveTan This next book is actually my husbands, it was a present for his birthday that was only a few weeks ago. He’s been a vegan for quite a few years now and I’m slowly getting into eating the same way. I’ve been vegetarian for the last few years, so I’ve cut out refined sugar, sweets and animal products but found dairy has been a little harder to move away from. We always struggle with what to eat too but Deliciously Ella has really helped us find our way with it.  This book is marvellous. To give you a bit of background on the book itself, Ella originally started eating vegan because she suffers from POTS, a condition that affects the system that controls everything that happens automatically in the body.  From this she started a blog to write her recipes down to share with others and it’s really grown in the last few years. This book has been at number 1 in the amazon book chart for the last 7 weeks and it shows no sign of budging. Eating this way definitely makes you feel healthier and the meals in here are so easy to cook. I cooked a carrot cake from this book for my husbands birthday and he loved it. So I have a feeling that this book will carry on being a favourite for a long time to come. Have a read and tell me what you think. DelElla   I’ve also watched and loved an HBO programme called The Leftovers.  There’s just one series so far although I’ve there is another one to be released soon. It’s about people in the world disappearing one day and how the people left behind deal with it and try and find out what happened. They’re also these people dressed in white that don’t talk but smoke. It has quite a few famous people in it such as Liv Tyler and Christopher Eccelstone too. It’s a strange program but it really is a brilliant program to watch. Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 11.03.38 I hope you have liked reading about my favourites and if you have any that you think I should know about or maybe you have your own favourites post?
