Sustainable Fitness brands to watch
I recently started a Level 3 Personal Training course which is super exciting. Learning about health and fitness especially in the current climate has made me look at my own health, mental health and fitness. With this in mind I’m also trying to utilise the information that I’m learning. I’ve been researching and stocking up on a little fitness gear and more sustainable products seemed to have caught my eye a little more recently. They can be a little more expensive but they really last and continue to look great. I thought that I would gather together the brands I’ve been liking the most for you.
Long have I walked past the London based SB shops and wanted to buy something but have never taken the plunge. Mainly because there’s such choice, I love everything but I can be pretty indecisive. I have recently bought some fitness wear from Sweaty Betty. They’ve had some great mid season discounts and offers of late especially if you are a fitness professional so I finally bought some fitness leggings. There is a slinky pair of black ones and a second pair that are super soft and have a palm print. They’re not something I’d normally go for but I feel like this brand help you step out of your comfort zone. Sweaty Betty make you feel really good with products like the Super sculpt leggings, Super Run sports bra and more and they do it really well. They’re moving to make the business more sustainable and eco conscious across their shops, warehouses and offices. they’re also working towards making all of their products more sustainable and eco friendly where possible with recycled materials, yarns and dyes with less chemicals. Sweaty Betty also have just brought out a fully sustainable line with material made from bottles too. I love that they’re more aware and making a change for the better.
This split UK and LA based company Varley has stepped into the limelight recently as more of a sustainable fitness brand. With design, sustainability and quality being their motto you soon fall hard for their products as soon as you start looking at their products. They have such a modern vibe for all of their products with the asymmetrical accents, colour highlights and animal prints that could take you from the gym and then onto a light meeting. Their fitness designs are classic and will have you pulling them out again and again. Varley believe that sustainability should be part of the garment so everything from their minimal wastage policy when making products to using materials that work on having a prolonged lifespan. It’s a brand that’s well worth checking out.
Organics Basic is at the forefront of the comfy ethical and sustainable clothing. This Copenhagen based company only choose eco- friendly fabrics for their products and team up with factories that care about their impact on the environment. The clothing pieces are gorgeous, and you can tell that simplicity and function are utilised in each. They’re also designed to last and with all of this at the heart of Organics Basic, they’re really showing how it’s done. Organics Basic as the name suggests, tend to concentrate on more basic products and designs with block muted colours at the soul of the main collection. Their active wear is super soft, with materials like Polygiene and silver tech, recycled materials that helps keep you fresh while you exercise.
Adidas – Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney and her company has always been known for her outlook on cruelty free and sustainability. It’s been at the heart of the designers work since she began and with this in mind Stella has led the way in fashion for this for many decades. Her partnership with Adidas spans 16 years and still continues, with one of the highlights being when the two collaborated on the British Olympics team uniforms in 2012. After designing Megan Markle’s Royal wedding reception dress in 2018, McCartney’s designs are even more in demand. For the latest line, Adidas – Stella MacCartney encapsulates the iconic contemporary fashion designer with artistic flare and creativity and its done at affordable prices. Honestly any of these products available from indoor to outdoor will bring your wardrobe up a step or two.
I’ve noticed that these brands are available from many places, such as The Sports Edit, Revolve, Mytheresa as well as their own sites. Let me know your thoughts on these fitness brands and if you’re loving these brands as much as I am right now in the comments below or over on twitter.
