With the country in lockdown and Black Friday just around the corner, it feels like we’re all thinking about Christmas earlier than ever, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! Every year I produce a mens gift guide, and with a little help from the man in my life, plot out some ideas for what to get for your husband, dad, boyfriend or best friend. There’s something here for everyone, so grab a mince pie and a sip of mulled wine, and let’s take a look.
1. Apple AirPods Pro
The Apple Airpods Pro most popular wireless earbuds have been upgraded, with a new Pro version released this Autumn with some cool new features. They’re a little smaller, and have a noise cancelling design which is great for blocking out chatter on the train or someone else’s phone call in the office. They’re meant to be more comfortable with silicon buds rather than plastic and the battery life has been increased too. Guys love wearing these things all the time, whether they’re in the gym or just walking around, so you absolutely can’t go wrong here.
2. Chained+Able
If jewellery is your guy’s cup of tea then give this independent company a look on Instagram for some really sweet pieces. Chained+Able make bracelets, rings, and necklaces in gold and sterling silver. There’s a reasonably wide choice of designs and price ranges, so definitely something for everyone. I’ve picked out the Micro Cuban Link T-bar design as a standout piece, but check out their website and social channels for the full range.
3. Labomono Jackets
Something we’ve started to see a lot in fashion over the past 18 months is products made from recycled materials, and Labomono are no different – producing “audacious jackets for everyday adventures” made from 30 recycled plastic bottles. This one is definitely for a guy with a quirky sense of style – these jackets don’t hold back when it comes to bold looks. I’ve picked out the Marker Urban Jacket, which contains a few hidden pockets that the makers recommend you hide sweets in. Who could disagree with that? Check out their website for lots of colourful and adventurous biking, hiking and exploring jackets that are great for the environment and support the kind of recycled fashion culture we need to see more of.
4. Playstation 5
Okay, this is a no brainer and by the time you’re reading this the man in your life may already be playing Call of Duty on one in the other room. But just in case you didn’t know, 7 years after the last one arrived, Sony’s new gaming console is out. There’s not a whole ton of games for it yet and the consoles are in short supply right now, which means if you can manage to snag one of these Playstation 5s you’ll win some epic brownie points. Just don’t expect to see much of him for a while.
5. The Greatest Games – Jamie Carragher
You may or may not know who Jamie Carragher is, and that’s fine, but if the man you’re buying for has any interest in football, then he most certainly does. The chirpy scouser has been a regular pundit on Sky Sports for the past few years and a podcaster on the side. This book – The Greatest Games by Jamie Carragher – is based on his podcast and features famous players inside stories on famous matches, what was said behind closed doors and the stories that unfolded on the pitch told by the players knocking the ball around themselves. This book is going to be flying off the shelves over the next few weeks so put it on your list as a stocking filler and reap the rewards.
6. Gymshark Shorts
If the man you’re buying for spends time in the gym then this is a brand you need to get hold of. Gymshark is a plucky startup turned industry leader and they sponsor a whole host of athletes and fitness Youtubers you might have seen in your recommended videos. I’ve picked out the shorts as they’re unbelievably comfortable and a go-to for either gym workouts of any other sports. Importantly they have a zip pocket – seriously, don’t ever buy gym shorts that don’t have a pocket. They’re lightweight but hard wearing, so take advantage of their Black Friday sale and grab a pair or two.
