We’re slowly decorating our house. We’ve never really decorated our main bedroom and so we’re finally looking to update the space and make it look a bit more adult. We’ve only really got the pictures and extra pieces from our last flat, this space at the top of the house is like a flat in itself as there’s an en-suit bathroom, a large built in wardrobe which really needs to be organised properly and a small office space that I use to write, study and reflect. We’d like to keep this a neutral space but still child friendly.
1.Maison Du Monde Sideboard
We don’t have a tv in this space at the moment but we’ve spent more time up here recently and watching films on a small screen on our laptops set far too close is beginning to wear thin especially as it’s not the greatest for your eyes in the long run. I’d love to update our side board to this Woven Rattan 2 door sideboard. It’s stunning and would really fit in with our space and still leave the room for us to move. We’d still also need a little storage for jumpers and things so I was thinking that with the help of a few nicely chosen baskets, we’ll be able to use them for storing jumpers and anything else we need to keep hidden.
2.Samsung – The Frame
We have kept the bedroom a tv free space but recently with my course and keeping up to date with this blog, the laptop has slowly crept in. I’d love to be able to separate the work and home areas a little bit more as well as help my eye sight more too. We would love for the television not to be the centre of the room, so having a television like The Samsung Frame would really help with this. It’s a television that has all of the normal channels, plus some and it has motion sensor so it looks like art whenever you aren’t using it and are in the room. It does so much more too. What a dream tv!
3.Otha Table Lamp, Dusty Pink
This lamp is really unusual. It has the classic element with the lamp shade, the colour and the shape itself is very minimal. The main body of the lamp is a nice contrast with this curved shape and the shade of dusty pink. The Otha Table lamp would be amazing to add a little modern quirkiness to the room.
4.Bedside Cabinets – Amazon
Finding a lovely bedside cabinet that is child friendly and that looks amazing is the challenge of the century. I’ve been looking at everything from round bainets to self charging for your elecrical items but I eventually settled for these Retro bedside cabinets from Amazon . I think they’re perfect. You could even pop a small basket underneath them too.
5.White and Black Dolomite Face Vase – Maison Du Monde
The finishing touches are always the things that make a house a home and a bedroom, homely. This white and Black Dolomite Face Vase will look stunning with some eucalyptus in and maybe popped next to something with a splash of colour. This vase Is an amazing way to finish a desk or maybe that side board under the tv.
6.Wall Hanging – River Ivy
I came across this gorgeous cresent moon macrame wall hanging tapestry recently and really loved it. The picture has some tiny fairy lights attached to it, the mixture of textures and light would make a really interesting addition. It would make any space look even more special and complete.
7.Picture – Desenio
Choosing pictures for your space is really personal but also amazing thing to do. The art in your space can really make your space, whether it’s the bright curved lines of Matisse art work, a Picasso inspired line drawing or a neutral picture from a well known brand you can have fun visualising, choosing and then seeing it all come to fruition. I’ve chosen this gorgeous line drawing of a lady with flowers in her hair. It would make the space pop and contrast with the lamp too. Perfect!
8.Lamp shade – Ikea
With the style of products that we have chosen this lamp shade from IKEA or something similar would really fit the space. It’s also a great price too. I love the natural rattan element and it will contrast with the neutral elements, the wood, the pictures, macrame in the space. Everyone seems to have it though but I have seen the lampshade been styled in a really cool way, maybe over the bed or painted white would really work.
9.Rug – The Rug Company
I find that adding a rug to the space brings the room together. It has to be the right size though so we’d be looking at something in the largest size they have a 200 x 260 or larger so that it goes under the bed up to at least the middle and then has a little space around the bed too. The room is already quite neutral so this is where a little pattern would work. This gorgeous Boho diamond cream and grey rug is perfect as it has enough detail to look great but not look over powering.
Let me know if you’re loving the bedroom style and products that I’ve chosen for our main bedroom. Have you got any of them in your home or has it given you some inspiration to add a few bits? I’d love to hear your comments on the space below or over on Twitter.
